The original plan was “just to eat bulalo” in the local market of Tagaytay (Mahogany) but things changed as we traverse our way to our destination.
Our driver, Manong Ompong told us that a place named Caleruega is a cool place with the charisma of old church and breathtaking views. I never knew the place existed before then. So we decided to see Caleruega.
Passing by a lush gold course called Evercrest, a long and winding road, track of old apartments/inns that were left to rot in time, we then thought that we are lost, that we were going on the wrong direction till we finally saw a string of buses and SUV’s from that direction. We seem to hit the right spot after a long ride.
The imposing Caleruega church was a remnant by the religious Dominican priest who built this as a home for pilgrimage. Hanging on the top of the hill, it is indeed a home amidst the beauty of nature.
Manong Ompong told us that the place was only known for religious purposes till more and more people uncover its splendor. He further add that the place is one of the top choices of couples who would want to spend their wedding in a solemn place, close enough to the sky and the verdant nature.
For regular weekend getaway seekers like us, the place is worth more than its entrance fee. A walk through the rows of flower-decked pathways, brick-lined trails and magnificent vistas of farmlands beneath, which are nothing less than awe-inspiring!
We have spent a great deal of time admiring the beauty of nature as we take a few pictures.
Caleruega is not only lovely; this is an understatement so to speak. The serenity of the place and its unique beauty is absolutely the perfect destination for all your spiritual needs and activities or just to fall in love- with nature or with that special someone you will be visiting the place with.
I love the mango tarts there...
