Some of the best natural parks in the USPosted: Sat/Oct/2011
The natural parks of the United States are very different from what we are used to seeing in the rest of the world and in most travel blogs and travel news. Large, spectacular and complete, without a doubt a very preferred destination for holidays by the Americans. There are 58 National Parks in the U.S. well preserved and operated by the Federal National Park Service. Besides these you can find about two hundred other areas designated as National Monuments, National Preserves, National Historic Parks and National Memorials. During a tour of the United States campers should provide at least one visit to these great natural reserves. All the parks are equipped to accommodate tourists, with apposite areas for caravans and camping. The most famous is the Yellowstone National Park in the state of Wyoming, with the popular Yogi Bear and Ranger Smith. It is the oldest national park in the world and was, in fact, created by President Ulysses Grant in 1872. This national park attracts thousands of visitors from around the world who come to admire the many geysers, geothermal sources and their spectacular sprays of hot water. Yellowstone is home to many rare and endangered wolves, bison, elk, deer, cougars and the notorious grizzly. The Grand Canyon National Park is located in the state of Arizona. The park is crossed by the Grand Canyon, a gorge formed by the millennial passage of the Colorado River in the red rock. This U.S. National Park, considered one of the most exciting in the world, was the most famous set for western movie. The Yosemite National Park, in California, is located on the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Among the features that make this park amazing are the Yosemite Falls and the majestic sequoias El Capitan. Spectacular waterfalls as high as 730 meters and a giant granite rock worshiped by Native Americans. Those who want to dive into the true life of the pioneer must visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located between the Tennessee and North Carolina. The main attractions are the historic ranger station, Sugarlands and Oconaluftee, which describes the nature and geological environment of the park. The most visited area is the valley of Cades Cove, which houses numerous historic buildings including log cabins, barns and churches. Definitely worth seeing at least some of these great parks if you happen to be in the US. |
