The Philippine Terno and the Barong, the graceful Filipino formal dress and male wear that has been around since the turn of the century, has never really lost its place as chic formal or evening wear as local couture houses and yound new Bicol fashion designers like Klang Arispe andDanny Clint have done much to make ethnic handloomed fabrics like abaca, have single handedly kept alive the province's traditional crafts of embroidery. Hence, on its second wind, Governor Salceda has commissioned the local designers to produce a new look, fashion show that would draw its inspiration from local abaca raw materials and stylistic influences. Intended as a showcase of Filipino fashion at its very best, the Pinukpok fashion show has been so successful that it has now become a regular event displaying the latest innovation in Bicol fashion design while at the same time providing a popular insight into Local history and tradition. |
